Al Zaeim Al Azhari University-(AAU-Sudan) was established in 1993 as a government university by presidential decree No. (225/39) to commemorate the life and legacy of Mr. Ismail Al Azhari ;a Sudanese nationalist and political figure who served as Sudan’s first prime minister between 1954 and 1956, and as president of Sudan from 1964 to 1969 . AAU-Sudan is dedicated to prepare graduates who are well qualified to attain positions in the community and helps in promotion and development. AAU-Sudan is a comprehensive, coeducational University that provides undergraduate and graduate instruction in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, medical sciences and engineering. In the National admission 2010, AAU-Sudan comes on the top 5 universities favoured by Sudanese students to pursue their undergraduate studies. Today, more than 1000 faculty members instruct approximately 10,000 undergraduate students and 1000 graduate students. The University generously contributes yearly with a number of postgraduate scholarships for students to pursue research on areas of national interest.

LOCATION:

AAU is situated in Khartoum State, in Sudan’s dynamic -Town Capital. The university has four campuses. The Administration Building is situated in Khartoum North campus along with the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Radiological Sc. & Med. Imaging, Faculty of Medical Technical Sciences, Faculty of Public Health, and Faculty of Med. lab. Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Computer Sciences & Information Technology, Faculty of Economics and Administration, Faculty of Sharia & Law , Faculty of Technical & Development Studies, Faculty of Postgraduate Studies, the main university clinic, and the main library. The Faculty of Engineering is at the Kfouri Campus-Khartoum North. The Faculty of Political Sc. & Strategic Studies is at Abassiya Campus- Omdurman. The Faculty of Education and Faculty of Urban Sciences are hosted at Wad Nubawi Campus-Omdurman. The new university site is at Soba Sharq - Khartoum North (1million Esq. M.) is the main site of the University and is now under construction. The Faculty of Engineering is at the Kfouri Campus-Khartoum North.
